Kingsnake and Milksnake Care

Kingsnakes are tough and therefore fairly easy to keep in captivity.  However there are still some important details in husbandry that are essential.  Kingsnakes and milksnake are from the genus Lampropeltis which in Greek essentially means shinny shield.  In the case of a snake the genus Lampropeltis can be taken to mean shinny skin.  Kingsnakes and milksnakes often feed on other snakes in the wild so they should not be kept with other snakes.  Additionally kingsnakes feed on birds, rodents, and lizards.  Most kingsnakes in captivity feed on mice or rats.  Kingsnakes and milksnakes are very active so they need to have a roomy enclosure.  ...
